Greetings from Ontario, OR!

This week Alonso visited Alexz in Oregon!

Welcome to Ontario, where Oregon Begins! Ontario sits on the border of Oregon and Idaho and is known for its farming and the Oregon trail starts here!

Alonso visited one of our many Oregon trail attractions and took a ride in a covered wagon. He was a little weary of the oxen at first, but he warned up quickly to them.

Next up was our historical train depot. I may be getting married here at this beautiful building, so he helped me scope it out and then he waited patiently at the train stop to hitch a ride.

Next, Alonso paid his respect to our local fallen soldiers at our college memorial site.

Next stop was Cairo Elementary, where I attended school and my mom has worked for the last 20 years! He really wanted to see the bear, so we had to stop.

Bet you didn't know Ontario is the onion capital of the world?! It is true!

Finally, Alonso came to work with me and helped out my kindergartner students who really fell in love with him and begged him to stay here in Ontario.

Next stop: Illinois!

Thank you again to Alexz for hosting Alonso. Make sure you check out her work:

Greetings from Mesquite, TX!

This week, Alonso visited Mesquite, TX, a little city just outside of Dallas.

First, he went to the Famous Mesquite Texas Rodeo and climbed some Spring blossom trees there.

He also visited the Blue Bell Creamerie (which is a famous Texas Ice Cream) and Mesquite Town Square, which houses the gazebo in front of a music/theater performance stage and the Rodeo City Music Hall.

In the town square was a taxidermy shop (he covered his eyes for that one).

He visited a park and where he fed the ducks and went down the slide.

Last but not least... he trained on a firefighter tower, (in which he trespassed to do so).

He was so tired, he had to be escorted home in a baby stroller.

Next Stop: Oregon!

Thanks to Lisa for hosting Alonso. Be sure to check out her work:

Greeting from Delaware!

Meet Alonso.

He's just your typical green, furry monster living in a cosy college town in Delaware. Bored with a life filled with sitting at the foot of my bed, Alonso decided to set out and see the world as a part of my long-term duration project for my ART117 class. With the help of some fellow crafters and the power of the internet, we were able to coordinate a grand tour of the US and Canada.

And Alonso's grand journey began here: the University of Delaware campus.

Going to Recitation Hall, another brick addition to the campus and home of some of Delaware's fine art facilities.

Hanging in the drawing studio.

Alonso's close friends, the goats.

See you soon!

Alonso will soon be on his way to his first destination: Texas.

The Humble Beginnings of a Young Monster

I made this stop-motion film last semester for ART116. Can you spot our little green friend in his first cameo role?

(First real post coming soon)
